Emmett's Death
Afterwards
Mamie Till-Mobley wanted to make sure no other black mother had to go through what she went through. By writing Death of Innocence, as well as showing Emmett's body to the world, Emmett's mother hoped to change the world. She wanted to give her son a character and to make others see what she saw and make others feel the pain and outrage she felt. She wanted to change the system that killed her son.
