Emmett at a young age

Emmett Till's life was used by his mother throughout the book in order to help invoke some sympathy from the audience. Emmett's mother frequently pointed out that Emmett seemed to try to "fit twice as much life into a fraction of a time". Here are some notable parts of Emmett's life

• He was born majorly defected, and had polio at a very young age.

• With no father figure in his house, he often took the role of being the man and helped his mother around

• He had a lisp, and was often hard to undertand

• He was a very independent boy and always knew his responsibilities

Emmett Till was also an incredibly nice boy, protecting and serving those he cared about.
